Nine years ago Jessica McCleary moved to Park City for a job with the Sundance Catalog. The former city dweller had a thriving career in retail working with large-scale brands like Williams Sonoma. Like so many of us, she expected her time in Park City to be temporary. After nearly a decade, we think it is safe to consider Jessica a local.
Originally from Northern California, she quickly fell in love with Park City summers. In fact, she credits the summer with keeping her here for all these years. Jessica sites the perfect weather, an abundance of concerts, and hiking with friends as magical.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for culinary arts, Jessica soon decided it was time to follow her heart and open a business. After noticing an olive oil store in Sedona, she thought a similar concept might work well on Main Street. Since 2009, Mountain Town Olive Oil has been a place on Main Street for visitors to entertain themselves. The shop offers visitors the opportunity to taste and explore new things and presents a new experience for those who stop in.
You may be surprised to discover that Mountain Town Olive Oil offers more than just olive oil; it also offers an education in olive oil. The olive oil often found on supermarket shelves is often more (or less) than meets the eye. Real olive oil, the variety found at Mountain Town Olive Oil is healthy, flavorful, and fresh. Jessica invites you stop in and experiment with the many olive oils available. The Tuscan Herb Olive Oil is a great oil for beginners to experiment with.
You can also find products for cooking, grilling, snacking, and even custom blend spices on the shelves at Mountain Town Olive Oil.
As always, we wanted to know why Jessica selected Historic Park City as home to Mountain Town Olive Oil. She explains that olive oil is often an impulse purchase, so you need a location with walk by traffic. Main Street was the most logical place. She describes Historic Park City as engaging, charming, and authentic.
Since opening Mountain Town Olive Oil on Park City’s Main Street in 2009, she has opened two additional shops - one in Provo and one in Salt Lake City.
When not working, Jessica can be found hiking, playing tennis, skiing, running, cooking and traveling. Her life goal is to find a hobby that is creative.
With Mother’s Day approaching we suggest visiting Mountain Town Olive Oil. You’ll likely leave with gifts for all of the important mother figures in your life and maybe something for yourself too.
