Italian fare at rarely seen prices on Main Street efficiently served in a bustling atmosphere makes for a delectably affordable, casual night out in Historic Park City thanks to the newly opened Vinto. Having made its splash this month at 900 Main Street, Vinto is the sister restaurant to its successful Salt Lake City location. If a full house with locals and visitors on a recent Thursday night is any indicator, the Park City restaurant is sure to be a popular, welcome addition to Main Street’s already diverse dining options.

The menu features an array of Italian-style specialties and includes appetizers, salads, Panini sandwiches, pasta and several gourmet pizzas. And no dish is priced over $11. Standout starters include house made meatballs, sun dried tomato and goat cheese flatbread, and pan seared polenta with tomato pomodoro, mushroom compote and melted fontina cheese. Large portion salads include the meaty Italian chopped and Caesar.

Nine unique pizza creations are offered which is probably what Vinto is most known for. The Salami pizza is topped with creminelli finocchiona salami, fontina, oregano and forest mushroom. Another delicious option is the Patate with sliced Yukon potatoes, fontina and goat cheeses, rosemary, wild arugula and white truffle oil. There are three pasta dishes and a daily special. Be sure to try the forest mushroom and artichoke fettuccini.

The extensive wine list offers varietals from around the globe. All wines are offered for just $6 by the glass.

Vinto’s friendly and fast service and reasonable prices are already a hit with families, who occupied at least half the tables when we stopped in for dinner. Dinner for two was a mere $56, which included two salads, the Patate pizza, the fettucine special of the night and three glasses of wine.

The menu notes that the staff is happy to serve at the desired pace of their customers, so they can accommodate those looking for either a quick bite or a more leisurely dining experience. Vinto is open for lunch and dinner. Reservations are not accepted.
