
KIMBALL ARTS FESTIVAL KICKS OFF AUGUST ON MAIN STREET
Art lovers will soon flock to Park City’s Main Street for the 56th Annual Kimball Arts Festival, and local businesses of the Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA) invite them to explore everything from the street to the stage. August brings Main Street Walking Tours, live music at The Marquis Park City, and performances every weekend at The Egyptian through the last full month of summer.
“With an expected 30,000 visitors for the 3-day Kimball Arts Festival, our Main Street businesses are excited to welcome plenty of new faces through their doors during the first weekend of August,” said Ginger Wicks, Executive Director of the Historic Park City Alliance. “Concerts, shows, guided tours, and hikes are offered nearly every day of the month, promising a new cultural experience or history lesson at every turn.”
This month’s events and specials in Historic Park City include:
Stand-Up Comedy with Steve Soelberg & Ron Feingold at The Egyptian Theatre
Friday, 8/1 – Saturday, 8/2
Come in out of the heat during Kimball Arts Festival weekend for some cold brews and hearty laughs featuring two headlining comedians.
Friday, 8/1 – Sunday, 8/3
As one of the top-rated art festivals in the country, the Kimball Arts Festival features 200 artist booths spanning 13 unique mediums, live music performances, food trucks, hands-on activities for all ages, and a lively atmosphere celebrating creativity in the heart of Park City. Summit County residents enjoy free admission on Friday, Aug. 1. Advanced registration is required.
Mondays – Fridays | 2 p.m.
Put on your walking shoes and explore the architecture and stories of Park City’s unique history—from the days as a booming mine town to an emerging ski town. The Park City Museum’s popular tours meet at the Museum store on weekdays through Sept. 5. $10 per person. Call 435-216-9693 to make a reservation as space is limited to fifteen people per tour. No tour 8/1 for Kimball Arts Festival.

Park City Museum staff lead tours of the Historic Glenwood Cemetery located at the end of Silver King Drive. Discover the history of the cemetery and the residents who are buried there. $15 per person. Registration is required.
Thaynes Canyon Hike for Museum Members
Wednesday, 8/6 | 9:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Melissa Clark and Kelly Riley will lead this 6-mile hike for Park City Museum members with lessons of the mountain’s rich mining history along the way. If you are not a member and would like to join the hike, registration is available at parkcityhistory.org/membership.

Knife Skills with New West KnifeWorks

Main Street’s boutique cutlery manufacturer hosts an event at Deer Valley Café to help guests sharpen their knife skills – literally! New West KnifeWorks experts lead a hands-on class where guests will learn how to properly sharpen their knives and master essential knife techniques. Perfect for home cooks looking to feel more confident and efficient in the kitchen. Reservations are required.
Wednesday, 8/13 | 5 – 6 p.m.
Given by Benjamin Beckman, this lecture explores opera’s presence in the Mountain West from early pioneer performances to grand touring productions that brought world-renowned artists to the region. Learn about the fascinating history and future of opera in Utah, including the newly founded Park City Opera. The lecture will be held at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.
Swaner and Spring Creek Trailhead Hike for Museum Members
Thursday, 8/14 | 9 a.m. – noon
Michael O’Malley and Wendy Fisher will lead this 5.5-mile hike for Park City Museum members from the Swaner EcoCenter to the Hi-Ute Barn to Spring Creek Trailhead and back to the EcoCenter. Learn about conservation easements along the route, the Snyder family, the Swaner family, an old railroad, the Pony Express, beaver dams, and elk migration. If you are not a member and would like to join the hike, registration is available at parkcityhistory.org/membership.

Two Kings and a Queen Hike for Museum Members
