
September kicks on historic Main Street with MINER’S DAY CELEBRATION, HISTORIC TOURS & DINING SPECIALS
The Historic Park City Alliance welcomes locals and visitors to connect with Park City’s colorful past all month long with Main Street Walking Tours, insightful lectures, and plenty of live entertainment and dining options in between.
So much of what we love about Park City today stems from our historic roots, and there are so many ways to honor and celebrate our rich history this month. Guests are invited to participate in our quirky traditions, learn our unique stories, and meet our small business owners who are writing the next chapter of Park City’s story.
This month’s events and specials in Historic Park City include:
Miner’s Day
9/1
The annual Park City Miner’s Day celebration honors the town’s mining history and features a wide variety of activities and events for all ages. The day’s events include:
7:30 – 9:30 a.m. – Miners Day Breakfast, City Park
8 a.m. – Miners Day Bark City 5k Run, City Park (bring your dog)
10:30 a.m. – Running of the Balls, Main Street
11 a.m. – Miners Day Parade, Main Street (Register to March in the Parade Here)
11:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Food Trucks & Beer/Liquor Garden, City Park
11:45 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Live Music in the Park, City Park Stage
noon – 4 p.m. – History Presentations at Miners Hospital Open House
12:30 – 1 p.m. – Kids Games, City Park
12:30 – 3 p.m. – Mining Competitions, City Park
Glenwood Cemetery Tours
9/2, 9/4, 9/9, 9/11 | 10:30 a.m. – noon
Park City Museum staff lead tours of the Historic Glenwood Cemetery located at the end of Silver King Drive. Discover the history of the cemetery and the residents who are buried there. $15 per person. Registration is required.
Main Street Walking Tours
9/2 – 9/5 | 2 p.m.
Put on your walking shoes and explore the architecture and stories of Park City’s unique history—from the days as a booming mine town to an emerging ski town. The Park City Museum’s popular tours meet at the Museum store. $10 per person. Call 435-216-9693 to make a reservation as space is limited to fifteen people per tour.
Historical Park City Mining 101 Lecture
9/3 | 5 – 6 p.m.
Given by Donovan Symonds, this lecture explores the historic mines, miners, and mills and their importance to Park City. The presenter will offer insights from his experience working in a similar remote lead/zinc mine over sixty years ago. The lecture will be held at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.
A Spirited Paint Party with Artist Briar West
9/4, 9/5 & 9/6 – 4 p.m. & 7 p.m.
Dissolving ink into Alpine's locally made spirits, craft your own beautiful painting to keep!
This exclusive two-hour, hands-on art experience allows you and your group to indulge in craft cocktails, beer, wine, or NA beverages while Utah artist Briar West guides you through each step, starting with practice sheets, and culminating in your own 11” x 14” masterpiece.
Big Country at The Egyptian Theatre
9/4 – 9/7
Rock out with Big Country, who broke massively worldwide with the release of the album's classic singles, “Field of Fire,” “Chance,” and signature song, “In a Big Country.”
Park Silly Sunday Market
9/7, 9/14, 9/21 | 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Enjoy this ecofriendly open-air market, street festival, and commUnity forum where neighbors and friends come together to celebrate the commUnity of fun and funky Park Sillians featuring local artists, vendors, and live music.
Chinese Contributions to Park City During the Early Mining Era Lecture
9/10 | 5 – 6 p.m.
Given by Mark Danniger and hosted by the Park City Museum and Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History, this lecture explores what brought Chinese immigrants to Park City, what business opportunities existed for them (and did not), and what became of the Chinese community in subsequent years. The lecture will be held at the Park City Museum Education and Collections Center located at 2079 Sidewinder Drive.
Ambrosia with John Ford Coley at The Egyptian Theatre
9/11 – 9/14
Ambrosia, a progressive rock band from the popular Yacht Rock Era, will be joined by John Ford Coley, a multi-platinum and gold recording artist, playing all the top hits.
Ontario Ridge Hike for Museum Members
9/13 | 9:30 a.m. – noon
Don Roll will lead this 3+ mile hike for Park City Museum members to explore mining artifacts around town, buildings from the Daly Mining Companies, remnants of mining cabins, and more. If you are not a member and would like to join the hike, registration is available at parkcityhistory.org/membership.
Thaynes Canyon Hike for Museum Members
9/18 | 10:45 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Melissa Clark and Kelly Riley will lead this 6-mile hike for Park City Museum members with lessons of the mountain’s rich mining history along the way. If you are not a member and would like to join the hike, registration is available at parkcityhistory.org/membership.
Herman’s Hermits Starring Peter Noone at The Egyptian Theatre
9/18 – 9/20
Peter Noone is a multi-talented entertainer, achieving international fame at the age of fifteen as "Herman," the lead singer of the legendary '60s English beat rock band, Herman's Hermits.
Firewood on Main x Antinori Wine Dinner
9/24 | 5:30 p.m.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at The Egyptian Theatre

One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers, and the coat of many colors.
The Group Project at Alpine Social Aid & Pleasure Club

An all-ladies' dance party! Cut loose, enjoy beats by DJ Boxie, and enjoy craft cocktails with the gals in our woman-owned and women-led space.
Park City Art & Music Gallery Stroll
9/26 | 6 – 9 p.m.
Enjoy an evening of art, food, drinks, music, and great company while strolling along scenic Main Street in Park City. Participating galleries open their doors to the public for a fun, casual cultural experience. Look for Park City Gallery Association flags. Free event the last Friday of every month.
